Safety & Training

underground utilities safety

Safety is Job One!

Employee safety and the safety of the public is of the utmost importance at Quam. It starts with a commitment to training and is reinforced throughout the organization on a day-to-day basis. Quam employees and subcontractors are charged with enforcing our Environmental Health & Safety Policies for the protection of our workers, the environment, and our job sites.

Quam’s Health & Safety Committee has developed safety goals to help us achieve an accident-free environment. The Occupational Safety and Health Act (O.S.H.A.) provides regulations to assure safe and healthy working conditions. Quam leadership expects all employees and subcontractors to carry out the standards of O.S.H.A. on all of our project sites.

Quam team members are expected to accept responsibility for working safely at all times and reporting unsafe conditions and acts to a supervisor so they may be corrected. The management philosophy is not production and safety; it is production with safety. Underground utilities safety is a production tool. Accidents resulting in personal injury and damage to property and equipment are a needless waste. A good safety program and good production record go hand in hand.

If an employee is ever in a situation that they feel is not safe, they are empowered—and obligated—to immediately stop any action that puts them or team members at risk and to contact the president directly.

Most importantly – we work safely for the benefit of our employees and their loved ones, so at the end of each day, everyone goes home.

Safety Training

Safety is top-priority at Quam, which is why all new hires receive safety training and then ongoing training thereafter.
